The Global Open University, Nagaland (A State University established by the Government of Nagaland) has been legislated by the Nagaland State Legislative Assembly under The Global Open University Act 2006 (Act 3 of 2006) which received the assent of the Governor of Nagaland on 30th August 2006 and was notified vide Notification number Law/Act-10/2006 on 18th September 2006. The provisions of The Global Open University Act 2006 were published in the Nagaland Official Gazette on 18th September 2006 for general information.

UGC recognition and clarification regarding Private / External / Non-Collegiate students admission
Important Information
1. The Global Open University Nagaland conducted courses by admitting students in the Session 2006 and 2007 as Private / External / Non Collegiate students for different courses.
2. The Global Open University Nagaland started admitting students under distance learning based on the recognition from the Distance Education Council.
3. The Global Open University Nagaland stopped admitting students in the distance learning programmes from the Year 2017 onwards.
4. The Global Open University Nagaland is admitting students from 2017 onwards as Private / External / Non Collegiate students.
5. The Private / External / Non Collegiate students are not covered under the Regulations of the Distance Education Council or the Distance Education Bureau of UGC.
